After performing an IDS Synchronization, all entries from the directory server that have not yet been updated on the MiVoice Business IDS contact point are displayed in the IDS Data Management form.
If you selected "Detain Updates" as the Sync Type, then all updates will be detained. After reviewing the detained updates on the form, you can modify the updates and then apply to MiVoice Business.
If you selected "Apply Updates" as the Sync Type, the updates are first placed in pending status. The system then automatically processes the updates based on their user service data. If an update include a directory number and home element value, it is recorded on the appropriate home element using SDS Application Reach Through. But if an element lacks a directory number or home element value, it is recorded on the MiVoice Business IDS contact point. If a Role is provided in the user service data, the Role's User and Service Template provides data in order to complete the update. If no Role is provided, the default template is used to provide the missing data.
When user and service data is successfully synchronized, information is updated in the appropriate locations. For example, core user data such as the first name and last name is updated in the global data model. Other data may be updated on the MiVoice Business IDS contact point or a remote home element.
When user and service data cannot be synchronized, an Application error message is listed for each failed update on the IDS Data management form. Use the information provided in this message to take corrective action before applying the update again.
In addition to managing updates on the IDS Data Management form, you can use it to import and export LDAP Data Interchange Format (LDIF) files containing IDS-manageable records on the SDS network and the directory server. For more information, see Managing LDIF Files.
Note that the IDS Data Management form displays data retrieved from the directory server only. It does not display information extracted from a User and Service Template. For example, if a value for the department field is provided by a template rather than the directory server, the field will appear blank for that update in the IDS Data Management form.
